Mrs M’s Phonics group week 3-

Monday-

Make up a game/Play game to practise words for reading- will, was, my, with, too, for. You could write them down on cards. Turn them over and read them as you turn them over. Put in two piles. Ones you can read and ones you can’t. Keep a record and see if you get better over the week.

Quickwrite-

Coin, beard, fern, tight, flower. This is to check children have remembered the digraphs and trigraphs from previous weeks- oi, ear, er, igh and ow and that they can spell them correctly. If they can’t, they haven’t retained the spelling yet and need to practise daily.

Practise words for spelling-

Get, to, can, into, go, no.

Tuesday-

Digraph flash cards. Go through pack of cards – print out from Twinkl. How many can children remember as you show them. How many can they read in one minute?

Revise words for reading: look, are.

Diagraph of day: air

Spell: hair, fair, pair .

Read the sentence: The rat hid in his lair.

Spell the words:

Not, on.

Wednesday-

Write digraphs. Phase 3. Adult says any from mat. Child writes in response to hearing the digraphs.

Revise words for reading: now, all.

Diagraph of day: ure

Spell: sure, pure, cure.

Read the sentence: Look at his brown hair. (air from yesterday)

Spell the words:

And, I.

Thursday-
