A huge well done to Year 1 who have worked their socks off this week. It is such a big change moving up from Reception and the children are adapting well.
This week we have enjoyed reading ‘The Tiger who came to Tea’ and have written our own shopping lists. We imagined the tiger came to our houses and thought about what he might like to eat, writing our own sentences in our books. Please do pop in to check out our plates of food on our working wall.
In maths we have been working on numbers to 10. This sounds simple but we have been looking at how numbers can be represented in lots of different ways – as digits, words, or groups of objects. We have used Numicon, cubes, ten frames, bead strings and many more objects to help us count up to 10 each time.
We have counted backwards from 10 and enjoyed launching a real life rocket in the playground with Mrs Bagshaw. We matched this counting to objects and used the number track to help us count back.
We have been counting ‘one more’ today and once again used the ten frame to solve questions using this language.
